WHERE ARE WE NOW? THE POWER OF PURPOSE-DRIVEN BUSINESS FOR THE POST COVID WORLD
Capitalism has entered a new phase where the rules of engagement have changed. The planet’s future survival and the global health system is under threat. Today’s consumers and employees are demanding responsible leadership to ensure sustainable economic growth and global stability. For your business to do well, it must also do good. Our research findings stress the need for the world to transition towards a “new purpose-first business logic”: running companies strategically for the long term with a purpose-driven agenda at the core of business strategy and performance. HOW TO BUILD BETTER NOW? POLICY SOLUTIONS TO SCALE THE PURPOSE FIRST ECONOMY
Rather than simply “building back”, leaders are choosing to “build better”. They are determined to address the current structural barriers to an inclusive and sustainable recovery and to unleash the full potential of all four sectors of the economy. This means addressing the urgent challenges we face, mitigating the risk of future shocks and improving resilience. Building better will set us on the path towards a more equitable economic recovery in the service of global well-being.
This session will be informed by the recently published Global Call-to-Action by CEOs and senior executives and the Building a Better Economy Global Policy Challenge, which is underway to realise its recommendations. It will inform leaders on how to broaden economic recovery and development strategies to scale purpose-driven business and accelerate the growth of a purpose-first economy. This approach can enable purpose-driven business to assume a larger part of the responsibility for addressing key global challenges like inequality, health, mechanization, and climate. The session will spotlight innovative policy solutions that have been surfaced in the Policy Challenge.

PURPOSE-FIRST SYSTEMS - WHY A NEW CULTURAL ENLIGHTENMENT MUST BE THE BASIS FOR BUILDING BETTER
In conversation with Daniel Schmachtenberger: All our global goals - the SDG's along with preventing war and other catastrophic risks - can be thought of as primarily coordination challenges. While market and government solutions are necessary, in this short talk we will discuss why any chance of success necessarily depends upon a significant increase in effective sense making and communication as the basis.
Daniel Schmachtenberger is the founder of Civilization Research Institute and The Consilience Project. He is focused on catastrophic risk mitigation and civilization design, with a central emphasis on improving the sense-making, communication, and problem solving capabilities of the general public and institutions.
